B2B POSITIONING
B2B Positioning.Make the choice clearer.
Good positioning helps the right customer understand who you are for, what problem you solve, why you are different and which alternatives they should compare you with. It gives Marketing and Sales the same commercial story.
WHAT POSITIONING IS
B2B Positioning Is Not Your Tagline, Brand or Messaging
Positioning is the place your product or company occupies in the customer's mind relative to the alternatives they believe they have.
Messaging expresses that position. Branding gives it identity. A tagline may compress part of it. None of those fixes the underlying problem if the market has put you in the wrong category, cannot see the difference or does not understand why it should care.
POSITIONING PROBLEMS
Signs Your B2B Positioning Is Broken
Positioning problems often show up downstream before anyone calls them positioning problems.
Customers describe you differently
Prospects leave the sales call with a different idea of what you do than the one you intended.
The wrong competitors keep appearing
Buyers compare you with alternatives you did not think you were competing against.
Marketing creates interest but Sales struggles
The message can earn attention without creating enough commercial preference to close.
Every audience gets the same story
The proposition is so broad that nobody can see why it is specifically relevant to them.

FAQ
B2B Positioning FAQ
Is positioning the same as branding?
No. Positioning defines the place you want to occupy in the customer's mind relative to the alternatives they consider. Branding expresses identity through elements such as name, visual system and tone. Strong branding can amplify good positioning, but it cannot compensate for an unclear market category or weak commercial difference.
How long does a positioning project take?
The timeline depends on how much customer evidence already exists, how many stakeholders need to be involved and whether research is required. CommView scopes the work around the decision that needs to be made rather than promising an arbitrary duration. A focused scale-up engagement should move quickly enough to maintain momentum.
Can positioning be fixed without changing the product?
Sometimes. If the product already solves a valuable problem but customers misunderstand who it is for, what category it belongs in or why it is different, positioning may be the main issue. If the promised value is not supported by the product experience, the problem may sit in product strategy as well as positioning.
